San Clemente is a wonderful city in southern California that is known for providing a wonderful array of coastal sights and attractions. Not only does San Clemente provide plenty of beautiful outdoor events, but during the winter season, this lovely city is also known for hosting some of the most enthralling festivities. One of these festivities includes the Boat Parade of Lights, which is a renowned event celebrated at Point Dana Harbor. Though this event is not located within San Clemente, this local event is well known in the area and representative of the exciting events which often take place in this wonderful city.

About the Boat Parade of Lights

The Boat Parade of Lights is an annual event that celebrates the spirit of Christmas. As the title of the parade may suggest, this event will showcase beautifully decorated sailing vessels, which will later be subject to viewing for competitive titles. Some of these titles include Best Animation, Best Use of Lights, and Judges Choice. These titles are just a few among many more, which is telling of the variety of ships one is bound to see at this parade. Also known as the Christmas Boat Parade, this will be the 44th celebration of the Boat Parade of Lights, ensuring that this will be one of the most spectacular shows ever hosted.

The theme of the Boat Parade of Lights this year will be “A Western Wonderland”, implying that each of these vessels will be decorated in what each company or person believes encompasses western culture. Views of this parade can be seen from along the harbor, where people are welcome to come and watch the seabound parade for absolutely free. This parade also is designed to donate funds accumulated to several charity organizations, such as the Pet Project Foundation.

The Boat Parade of Lights will take place on December 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th. The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the actual boating events will begin at 7:30 p.m. As stated before, attending this event is absolutely free.
